As the lead UI/UX designer, I was responsible for designing the user interface and experience, focusing on creating a seamless and enjoyable journey for users from discovery to delivery.
Identify the Problem: The primary challenge was to develop a user-friendly food app that simplifies the ordering process while offering a wide range of culinary options. Many existing food apps are cluttered, difficult to navigate, and lack personalization, leading to user frustration and drop-off.
Background Information: The food delivery market has grown rapidly, but with it, the need for a well-designed app that caters to diverse tastes, dietary preferences, and delivery options has become essential.
User Study: Executed in-depth user studies through questionnaires and discussions with prospective users, encompassing regular food delivery consumers, restauranteurs, and delivery employees.
Principal Discoveries: Users sought an application that was straightforward to use and provided tailored suggestions in line with their preferences, food intolerances, and previous purchases. Quickness, ease of use, and a visually enticing interface were of paramount significance.
Obstacles: One of the key challenges was balancing a rich, visual experience with the need for fast loading times, particularly on mobile devices. Another challenge was ensuring the app catered to diverse dietary needs without overwhelming users with options.
How You Overcame Them: To address these challenges, we optimized image loading and used progressive disclosure to present options only when relevant. We also implemented filters and search features that allow users to quickly find meals that match their dietary preferences.
